From the abstract linked about comment# 20:
"To study the molecular mechanisms involved in the induction and repression of intestinal inflammation, the phosphoglycerol transferase gene that plays a key role in lipoteichoic acid (LTA) biosynthesis in Lactobacillus acidophilus NCFM (NCK56) was deleted."
Hennie Pennie, ceatures with deleted genes are called knockout creatures. They could be bacteria, mice, etc. They know how to use specific enzymes to remove the genes, IIRC. My guess is that lipoteichoic acid is involved in the cell signaling pathway that promotes this inflammation, and it's absense turns it off, IMHO.
Hennie Pennie, I think you should reconsider. It was just an unfortunate choice of words that caused a misunderstanding, IMHO.
Thank you for your assistance with some decent search terms and precise phrases so that I can research this further and also set up some dynomite Google News Alerts.
