way back when in college during WW2 history clsss, I remember reading that Hitler was using the Arabs but was basically holding his nose as he did so. He did not regard the Arabs as part of the master race and, as such, there was not probably a place in his vision for them beyond their immediate usefullness. The Croats can also be explained as “enemy of my enemy” alliances. Enemies of the Serbs = friends of the Croats. Although they were a particularly nasty bunch of fascists, shocking even the Germans.
As can the Finns, who fought alongside the Germans against the USSR. I’m sure the Finns really had to hold their noses to do so.
But then we really don’t have a great deal of right to be self-righteous on the subject, as we allied ourselves with the Soviets.
