My grandson is heading to High School next year and wants to go out for their rifle team. They have an indoor range right in the building.

AWESOME! Here in NE that was the case 50 years ago...it was not uncommon for the boys [grrrr..I was so jealous!!] to bring their .22 and put it in the coatroom on the day of rifle practice. Depending on how strict your teacher was, maybe you could keep the ammo in your pocket or she'd hold it on her desk. The ranges were in the school basement. Most schools had them.
