That’s very sad. If anyone shares my interest in and admiration for Motown Records, make sure to watch the movie, “The Temptations.’ It’s based on Otis Warren’s auto-bio, and it will remind you anew of what a great generation of young black singers gave us giants like Gladys Horton.

Only 66. Prayers for her and her family.

Those girl groups from the 60s sure had style unlike the crass pop stars of today. RIP Ms. Horton.

Music was better then.
Me and Mrs. Jones was a hit in December of '72. I remember that for one of the usual odd reasons that we all remember songs. My grandfather had passed away that year and my parents were with my maternal grandmother while I was at home taking care of my younger sister. As always, I had the radio for comfort.
Black Dog, by Led Zeppelin, was the other big song at the time.
In any event, I am very sorry to hear about Gladys Horton's passing at such a young age. Popular music was most certainly better then; so much more evocative of what matters in life. Please Mr. Postman is one of my wife's absolute favorite songs. My memory might be playing tricks on me, but I believe I played it on the guitar the night I proposed to her. ;-)

My big sister had the best Motown record collection. She had 45s of all the girl groups and many others.

Sad news. Old Ben has some particular special memories associated with this song — oh well we are on on the conveyor belt.
