Appearing on MSNBC, Monday, to promote his new special on Barack Obama, Chris Matthews attacked "older white people" for still holding bigoted feelings against the first African American President.
Lavishing praise on younger Americans, he added, "And I think that's a generalization and I'll stick with it. I think younger people do not see race as an obstacle." He then touted the "non-judgmental" attitude of Obama voters, fawning, "In fact, they say [race is] irrelevant and don't even notice it, whereas older people notice it all the time."

I would describe my beliefs at 17 as socialist.
By 21 I was conservative
I’ll let my 83 year-old mother know. She forbade the use of the “n” word in our house, in the ‘50’s in Texas. She backed that up with lectures about equality for all people. I bet we were the only house for miles with that rule.
She voted for Obama too, poor thing. She watches crud like Chris Matthews and the alphabets all the time.
Hey Mom, Chris Matthews says you are a racist!
By the way, you are a relative newbie, but you are doing something with this post that I wish others would emulate. You added your comments to the post in comment #1. Too many folks post things and never leave a comment anywhere in the thread. One is left to wonder whether the poster agrees or disagrees with the posted article.
Excellent point about the young and socialism. They have been given everything in their comfortable lives. They think the fruits of the economy are easily obtained and should be redistributed to those less fortunate.
What neighborhood does Matthews live in? Does he have any black neighbors? Always playing the race card.
Sad to read about your experiences.
Whenever I travel, shop or stop in the company of strangers; it has been my experience that humor opens up conversations; and that shared stories of childhood challenges leads to an epiphany that we have more in common than we realize. i.e. Old people - regardless of ethnicity - think that the younger generation is comprised of ‘hoodlums, spoiled brats and tattoed tantrums’.
But the reason I hate my best black girl-friend is because she doesn’t wrinkle.

Chrissy either doesn't realize he just implicated himself as a bigot (possible) or else Chrissy doesn't think that anything he says or does applies to him or his liberal pals (probable).
It's also a distinct possibility that both apply, since he is a very ignorant, older, white, liberal bigot.
It’s common sense. They don’t know any better.
Bullseye liberty. Oh, am I allowed to say that? But you’re on the nose.
No worries.
Mylife is just fine.
However, what I have said is true.
No people are more standoffish than black folks.
You cant even go to get to a good restaurant without getting the stare down.
I have experience this with other cultures as well but not to the same extent.
Folks are gonna parse words if I go to the barbershop.
I wonder if Chris Matthews is amping up the crazy meter to get attention and ratings. Maybe I’m giving him too much credit.
To that I say I am a realist not a racist. It is evident he ate paint chips as a child was dropped on his head several times and he wore a sign on his back most of his school career that says kick me I like it. Chris is a wigger. a white kid who wants so bad to be a black kid
Chrissy is as unhinged as Olberwoman.
Older white people aren’t bigoted or racist they just aren’t corrupted by libs as badly as the younger generation...Libs are bothered they can’t fool the “older” crowd about King Obama as well as they did the younger folks...
no worries. They're not going to get any medicine under obamacare, anyway.
I agree. Too manay times recently, he seems to be more caffeine and booze than actual brain cells firing. Just living through another mental chorus of ‘Those were the days’.
Matthews doesn’t notice race so much that he mentions it ALL THE TIME.
They’re trying to relive the 60’s and get all the gullible youth on their side...(easier to BS)....Hey! maybe it’ll make *them* young again too!
