Subject: Obama's last two speeches:
Tucson
Radio Address
While contributors to Freerepublic often wonder in print whether or not the GOP truly got the message from the Tea Party in the mid-term elections, IMHO it's easy to see who definitely received it loud and clear: Obama's handlers.
The Tucson speech was delivered at a relaxed pace, the writing was smoother, the transitions more effective. The new Obama baritone was deeper, more soothing. The style was less confrontational and a whole lot less bombastic. The inevitable digs at the Republicans were subtle, rather than obvious.
Some faults remain. The man is hopeless at public speaking. He is an accomplished, if highly mannered reader of the words of another. But this reliance on dual teleprompters makes him oblivious to audience reaction, so that his timing is always a bit off. His reaction to the audience is also often inappropriate. For instance, when the audience in Tucson began cheering, a word from Obama could have quelled the unseemly noise at what was after all, a funeral.
But that inappropriate reaction of the audience suffers in comparison to Obama's own use of the solemn occasion to deliver what was in effect, the official kick-off speech of his 2012 campaign.
The next speech was the radio address, in which it was obvious that Obama is making a move, or at least a head-fake, to the center. Of course on radio, one cannot see the annoying flips, the switching of his gaze from one teleprompter to another, and there is no audience to contend with.
Style is one thing. Substance another. It was substance that was truly missing in both speeches; just the usual stuff and nonsense. But all in all, these two outings mark a significant change.
It's tough to give credit to a puppet and not those who are jerking the strings, but it shows that someone up there interpreted the election results intelligently and that Obama may be somewhat more trainable than previously thought.
The Tucson Massacre marks the beginning of the campaign of 2012.
Who is the real 0bami? He changes with the wind. Grey hair...black hair...grey hair for starters.
Who on earth can trust a person like him? He’s all fake!
Nothing but a Flim-Flam man.
As someone said on the Kudlow Report tonight - “at least now he’s telling the right kind of lies”.....
I first read “fake” as flake but that works too.
