What's the difference between these two QBs? Well, the obvious answer is one has hair extensions and one doesn't. One is married to a supermodel, and the other isn't. One has three Super Bowl rings and the other only two (for now).
Those are all fine and dandy, but today's Jets-Patriots game showed the most important difference between Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger. When one of them is pressured, he throws the ball away or falls to the ground, while the other one moves around and makes things happen allowing his team to win.
I don't know if it is only since his knee injury or if I just never noticed it before, but Tom Brady is a different QB when you knock him around a little. After getting sacked and hit by the Jets a few times, it was obvious Brady was throwing the ball away early, or worse, going down early.
This is a stark contrast to Ben Roethlisberger, who stands back there, shakes off defenders like mosquitoes and creates plays on the fly.
He may be the MVP this year, but I don't care. If you take away his great coach and offensive line, Tom Brady can't hold a candle to Big Ben.

neither was clinton
You’ll get no argument here, Ben is far superior imho.
Brady is a pocket rocket, nothing more.
I don’t think you can really say who the “better” QB is. There are so many factors in being a QB. Your O line, the system your team runs, what WR/RB/TE you have, the plays called by the coaching staff, drops that WRs may have(Is Roethlisberger a great QB because Brown caught the 3rd and 19 pass and Flacco is a bad one because Boldin dropped a TD that was right in his hands and Houshmanzadeh dropped a 1st down that was right in his hands?), your FG kicker, etc...
Is Brady a great QB because Vinatieri won a few games for him with great kicks and Jim Kelly a bad QB because his kicker blew the SB? If Vinatieri misses a few of those and Brady loses some of those games is his reputation as high? Is Brady a bad QB because Tyree on the NYG caught that ball against his helmet in a 1 in 1000000 fluke and ended the undefeated season?
I think they’re both great QBs, both have proven themselves in the biggest of games and the biggest of moments. Both have won multiple SBs. I’d take both of them over Peyton Manning who has history of coming up small and doesn’t have nearly the track recor of success they do.
I agree about the pressure and I give Ben an edge there as his size gives him an advantage in those situations. He’s also a bit more mobile than Brady. You can’t really go wrong with either of them.
But we’ll see next week how Ben does against the same team that pretty much shut NE down today. Can’t get a better comparison than seeing them go against the same team in back to back weeks.
I think PIT may have an edge in that their D is far superior to NE and they have a better running game so Ben won’t have to do as much. But NYJ are playing very well and their confidence is off the charts right now. Should be a great game.
This is true. But what was probably true of Clinton isn’t necessarily true of Ben.
Nope, Brady is still better. But not as good as before he was married,
Fine. One is an alleged rapist and the other is an alleged cheater.
I’ll take PR over either one of them this year.
This article brings up some interesting points, but I’m still not convinced. Barring an absolute dud in the NFC Championship game or Super Bowl, I think Aaron Rodgers will have to be considered better than either Brady or Roethlisberger.
In general, QBs stay in the pocket when the offensive line holds and leave the pocket when it collapses. So I think your comment doesn’t hold much weight.
Sorry, not your comment, but that of the writer.
BS. Go Jets.
You’re betraying your state. But I sold an extra ticket I had to the last Jets game to a guy from your part of PA.
Right now, I’ll take the highly mobile and creative Aaron Rodgers over either one of them.
And I’m hoping Sam Bradford of my St. Louis Rams, supplants him as NFL top dog in the very near future.
He was a Jets fan.
Daaaaaaaaa Bears.
I grew up in Birds territory. I dislike the team and the fans even more. That’s why I am Mets and Jets all the way. Easier ride north to see games than Pittsburgh.
Both are great so why even have this thread? Is it for entertainment or for starting a verbal fight? :)
More likely that Brady would be flown by medical ambulance jet to a Los Angeles hospital for emergency cosmetic surgery.
What makes a great QB?
The offensive line.
