Miss Americas generally avoid all the "commotion", save of course Vanessa Williams back in the 1980s. It's the "Miss USA" broads that go crazy. That pageant is much more of a straight "beauty pageant", where the girls could be enrolled in community college or beauty school to qualify.
Miss America generally has more demanding academic requirements and other community service criteria. Those women go onto to become lawyers or doctors or even politicians (usually politicians wives, though).
Or Fox News babes -- Gretchen Carlson and Lauren Green, for two. And Diane Sawyer was Miss Teen America a million years ago. Even Oprah was a pageant winner back in the day.
