I'm trying to help a person install an HP All-In-One Printer/Scanner on their desktop, which is running Windows 7.
The HP software worked just fine for his laptop, which is running XP (he can both print and scan using the machine which has XP).
He said he downloaded all the necessary and applicable drivers (latest and greatest versions) from hp.com, and while the printer works, the scanner does not.
When attempting to scan, the error is something along the lines of "Cannot communicate with scanner."
Anyone have similar troubles and might be able to offer some words of wisdom?
The person says they think the scanner would work if they could download a 64-bit version of Adobe Flash, but that a 64-bit version is not available.
I looked and couldn't find one, unless I'm missing it.
Thanks a lot for any help.
Moozilla dowloaded successfully, but it can’t be applied. Is there some setting I’m overlooking? Win7 seems to have so much self-protection that it takes a lot of work to have control over what your computer does.
Why do they discard features that are helpful and add new ones that just frustrate with every ‘improvement’? Seems the heavy nerd type programmers like 10 steps to a process where there used to be one.
This explains how to get Mozilla through a windows firewall in 7.
If that isn't the problem, you may have to go into default programs and change it in there.
I use Norton for firewall/av and Mozilla works fine.
He got the printer/scanner to work by using USB cable, instead of wireless/network. That seemed to do the trick. He’s happy now. Thanks to everyone for helping me out. Appreciate it big time!
Good news!
I *have* to use my devices as network printers due to our multi-user environment. So USB cable wasn’t an option for me.
Enjoy!
