TOWN OF STOCKTON, Wis. -- An investigation is under way after 200 dead cows were found in a field in the Town of Stockton.

A rancher in the Larame WY area said he had cattle freeze to death standing up.
Whether Ohio got that cold is another issue.
I know how vaccines work, someone pointed out poisoning as a possibility, and a tainted (ie ‘bad’) vaccine or a contaminant in the vaccine could cause that kind of death rate. We once lost about 50 head because of a tainted vaccine.

I understand the purpose of preparedness posters from the WWII era. I also understand the Varga Girl phenomenon of the era. Combining the two isn’t entirely unheard of. That one is just plain odd, though. I suspect modern parody, honestly.

Seriously, ergot poisoning from feed would be my guess. When feed is delivered to snowbound cattle, they all rush to get in on eating the delivery. Could poison an entire herd that way

One of my favorite authors while growing up was Robert A. Heinlien. In “Stranger in a Strange Land”, a “fair witness is asked” “Anne, what color is that house up on the hill?” She replied that it was white, on THAT side.
That helped me to become far more skeptical of what I read and hear and see.
That is a good possibility.
It was her hateful, vituperative, racist, xenophobit, racist, animalist “Mama Grizzly” comments that did it.
I can sympathize. That’s the same way I feel after listening to him.

Now I am a tropical animal. I’ve lived in tropical and subtropical climates for the past 25 years. When it gets down to 70 degrees, I put a jacket on!

Will that include bacteria and viruses? It would be wrong to discriminate against any living animal organism, wouldn’t it?
Besides it will make a great excuse to not hand out all those ‘spensive antibiotics.
I didn't mean to imply that you didn't. I only wanted to point out another possibility.
A bad vaccine is just as possible as any of the other rational explanations given so far.
BTW, I'm not a farmer and haven't been on a farm in a long time.
