When you really think about it there isn’t much to write about the Kennedy’s that is positive—except JFK’s war time experience and the two Camelot years of his presidency. Robert Kennedy seemed to be fairly free from taint, but his life was far from epic.
Aside from that, the Kennedy family was about as dysfunctional as it is possible to get. Given the bent of today’s TV offerings—dysfunctionalism—I guess that would make for good ratings. But the Kennedy family obviously did not want all its dirty laundry put out there for the world to see.
For the record I was an ardent JFK supporter as a 17-19 year-old. Came the dawn. That said, I deplore the assassinations of JFK and his brother.
JFK was asleep on watch and allowed his PT to be snuck up on by the enemy. Yes it was a heroic act to get his mates to safety, if we can believe the story.
Cynical me........sorry to say.
Camelot = Theodore Sorensen BULLSH*T
Bobby got “sloppy seconds” on MM after big brother Jack got through with her.
What? Hollywood created that phony image. He should have been court marshaled for irresponsibly in loosing his boat. Wasn't one of his crew members killed? The Navy's view of his performance is clear from his assignments afterwords.
