Only political monomania can explain why more than a few 21st century Americans, when confronted by a disturbing tragedy whose cause is clinical insanity, are acting like ignorant peasants.

I fully understand that manias are always detrimental to rational thought. But, monomania is a new term to me. Now that I've gained a bit of understanding regarding the implications of the affliction, it's clear how it so comprehensively besets the left.
