I think it's exactly the question. It matters not to the media what the guy's motivation for shooting Rep. Giffords was. They will spin, spin, spin and keep spinning until they have it rooted in the American Sheeple's minds that evil conservative Tea Partiers, led by Sarah Palin herself, pulled the trigger of the evil gun, all of which should be collected and turned into New Age water fountains.
What happened, and why it happened is bad enough, but it affected only a relative handful of people on the scene and their families. What the Commies turn it into will affect us all. That is precisely the question.

I think he was a whacko. No one’s pawn or patsy. Just a whacko. I think he snapped and was going to kill someone. I just wondered what triggered the decision to target her.

Well, I also think he was a whacko who was going to kill someone, or certainly wanted to. For some reason I think someone tapped into that (a rabid anti-Semite) and made use of it.
I think Giffords was targeted because she is Jewish.
Interesting to listen to it unfold - it doesn’t seem to be as political as originally thought. In any case, time will tell.

You're right. What was I thinking, looking at what is commonly known as "the big picture"? I mean, what is there to be gained in giving thought to how our political enemies may be planning to use this crime to infringe on our rights? The real important thing to do is to Monday morning quarterback what has already happened into the ground. /s
While I pray for those who were killed or wounded yesterday, and for their families, I'm not related to any of them. I'm also not one of the investigators, so why Loughner did it is not my immediate concern. I do, however, have certain rights which will no doubt be under renewed attack starting tomorrow. Oh yeah, they're your rights, too, just to give you a heads up.
