I have no idea. Last time it was a problem in the database. The time before that a server fried. More than once its been DOS attacks. This one looks like some sort of logjam.
Im sure John will get it cleared up eventually, but this is a huge complex multi-server, multi-user system with lots of hardware and software that all has to mesh perfectly to work at maximum performance levels.
Somethings always going to snap. Never know when or what or if its natural or DOS. Lots of people hate us and would love to see us go belly-up.
War is hell. So are computer systems. If it can go wrong it will.
FREEPERS ROCK!!!
WE ARE STILL ONLINE!!!
How does Amazon.com cope?
#1 put in a Toby Keith CD
#2 play free cell while its loading, after a couple of games its loaded. Free Cell takes concentration so you don't mind the wait...
#3 Clean house while waiting....patience is a virtue
#4 Your right, FR though slow is still up...:O)
Maybe since we have gained so many new FReepers it would be a good idea to upgrade to a higher capacity system...I remember the bugs we had to go through the last time we went through a system up grade.
But if it will stop the overloading it would be worth it.
