Our parents grew up with lead paint all around them. It wasn’t a problem. Of course they didn’t eat paint chips or chew on the window sills.

My father and my uncle, both of whom lived well into their 80s, molded and made lead toy soldiers when they were kids. They would melt the lead, pour it into the casting, and let it cool in the shape of soldiers. They would then paint them.

No sign of problems with them. We all know that lead is a poison when ingested in certain quantities. We also know, or used to know, that those quantities are seldom met as long as people are careful. It doesn’t take the hyper-regulation of the elitist morons in Washington to keep people safe. They just have to know about the hazard and take precautions.
