I dunno. Anyone of a certain age recall that character in the “Hill Street Blues” 1980’s cop series who tried the same thing? He gets shot and killed.

Man! I remember that series. It distilled the utter urban crime despair of the seventies/eighties era. Society was going to sink ever downward into anarchy and the cops were helpless. Good thing the libs were beaten back on the issues of law enforcement, punishment and the 2nd Amendment.
