[heavy sigh]

There’s so much missing from this story. He wasn’t thrown off the plane for having a bagel in a bag. He was thrown off the plane for whatever he did when they asked him about it. Looks like he got belligerent and got thrown off for being an @sshat. Good.

If we could just get rid of the @sshat passengers on planes, flying would be a lot more fun. I’ve actually got few complaints against the airline staff on any flight... and I’ve flown a lot over the last twenty or so years. But if I have one routine complaint it’s about the annoyances that come from fellow passengers.

Some people should just take the damned train. So you don’t like flying. Simple: Don’t. Just quit flying and leave the rest of us alone. Quit inflicting your phobias on everybody else.

Sounds to me as if it’s OTHER passengers who are “inflicting” their phobias on innocent victims. Americans really need to get a grip, or they will relinquish all their civil rights for an illusion of security.

I agree, but the one thing missing is why the passenger thought he needed to make a phone call. For all we know, he was trying to call his lawyer for advice.

I don't think that excuses him, but it was a strange reaction. I suspect that there was plenty of @sshattery going on from all three sides: the passenger, the flight crew, and all the other passengers.

Hmmmm, you say there is much missing, then you proceed to fill in the blanks. How do you know he was the one who was belligerent? How do you he was being belligerent, and not the state police. How would you like it if some jackbooted thug said you were a member of Al Qaeda, because you had a bag with keys and a bagel were in it?

According to Boston Globe: "Milatovic, who had been visiting family in Hudson, allegedly would not comply with a flight attendant’s instructions, refusing to take his seat and refusing to place his carry-on luggage into the overhead compartment.... Another passenger also reported that Milatovic made a furtive movement and a quick phone call, stating, 'I have boarded.'"

So he was arrested for suspicious behavior, not for having a bagel.
