Yes, exactly. I understand people saving glass jars to use for drinking glasses if they are poverty stricken, but obama didn’t grow up “poor”, what a crock (or jelly jar?)
FWIW, I recycle peanut butter jars as tumblers. I can afford a real glass, I just prefer the jar.
In the 60’s some jelly came in jars that were meant to be used as glasses, promotional items and the like. I still have one with Mr. Magoo on it that I take a nip out of occasionally.
No queer poetry with commies though.
The jelly jar thing is just one of those touches that Ayers gives to his prose to make it seem more ‘real.
