Maybe it is true, maybe not, but unless she can prove otherwise it sounds like a great defense to this non-lawyer.

Agree. She shouldn’t have bet more than she could lose.
Makes me wonder if she was going into debt to pay for “their” wedding.

She got the ring.... then proceeded to overspend the collateral value.
The groom is obligated for the value of the ring.....the rest is on her.
