I believe the original was based upon a '56 Lincoln Premiere convertible. You can still see hints of it in the headlight area, not much else.

I read the basis was a 1956 Lincoln Futura concept car.

The original was based on a Lincoln concept car that debuted at the Detroit Auto Show in the mid to late 50’s. My neighbor owns one of the six original BatMobiles from the television show. He treats it like crystal. His Christmas decorations on his home are Bat Man themed.

The Cincinnati Enquirer used his car in a photoshoot with Chad OchoCinco and T.O. earlier this year when they tried to market themselves as Bat Man and Robin.

He occassionally drives it through the nieghborhood on Summer evenings. The kids and the dads go wild when he does.
