Heard that if you soak new clothes in cold salt water it would “set the dye”.

Anyone know for sure?

And if the “dye” was from China it’s probably toxic.

That is true. Typically it takes several hours - 3 or so.

Depends on the fiber content. Cold salt water will help with plant fiber based fabrics. With animal fibers like wool, vinegar should be used instead of salt.

Polyesters and acrylics should be bleeding at all and nothing can set the color in those fibers if it wasn’t done properly in the first place, it takes more than kitchen chemistry.

No way could those garments be sewn without the bleeding problem being noticed, so Kohl’s has been ripped off by the supplier of these sub-par products.
