A less festive bunch it’s hard to imagine. This is Hitler and his henchmen celebrating Christmas in 1941 – not that you’d know it from their glum expressions. These probably had something to do with the recent dispiriting failure of Nazi attempts to seize Moscow and take control of Russia. The pictures from December 18, which have only just come to light, show Hitler and his generals at a party for SS officer cadets in Munich. But the Nazi Christmas was far from traditional.

Please people, let’s not bean count genocide.....The issue is that the nazi regime with the silent, terrorized complicity of the German people and too many others murdered too many human beings. How much is too many? One or more.

At the Holocaust Museum in DC, there is a picture of Catholic priests and brothers filling a courtyard of a church in Poland—all on their knees with the SS around them. Right after the picture was taken, they were all executed. Absolutely chilling...as a Jew, I was proud that they had this and other evidence of atrocities against Christians.

“Hitler never celebrated Christmas, which he associated with his mother’s death. For him this un-welcomed holiday was a time for solitary brooding and to get past it he would order his driver to take him on long and rambling drives through the countryside.
“But he threw elegant New Years’ parties replete with caviar, fireworks and a traditional lead pouring ceremony. Hitler himself would pour molten lead into water and examine the solidified form for any portents of the future. The emerging shape of a spoon signaled good luck.”
We often forget that over 12 million were murdered by the Nazis in the death camps - six million Jews and six million “politically incorrect” Christians.
Thus Hitler murdered as many Christians as he did Jews, especially Catholic priests in Poland, the only difference was that the six million Jews murdered were about 80% of the European Jews, whereas the Christians were a much smaller percentage of European Christianity.
Also, note that European Muslims were Hitler’s allies who were armed by the Nazis and even formed into ruthless SS divisions charged with many crimes of genocide against Jews and Christians.

Grandma was in a Nazi work camp for a year due to her being in the French Resistance.
She said the Nazi’s took ANYONE who was in opposition to their agenda, although some(Jews-Gypsy’s-Homosexuals) were favored more than others.
I'm a little baffled by this remark: The most common German word for Christmas is Weihnachten. The verb weihen means "consecrate" and Weih is another word for Christmas. It is not necessarily explicitly Christian. Did author mean to say that the Nazis wanted people to use the less Christian word "Julfest" in place of "Weihnachten"? There was a woman who used to attend our church who grew up in pre-war Berlin and she had the most wonderful Christmas memories of making a wreath with her mother on Christmas Eve and getting an orange on Christmas morning. She correctly believed that her American grandchildren, showered with material things on Christmas where missing out on the best of Christmas. Experiences are only memorable and cherished if we invest ourselves in them.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer is one of mine. The new biography of him by Eric Metaxas is amazing. Niemoller is probably the most remembered Christian from that era due to his famous quote about “no left to stand up for me.”
The book I’m referring to gives great insight into the struggle between the true “Confessing Church” and the Nazfied state church of the “German Christians.”
I’m only halfway through it, but one of the best points it makes is Niemoller’s naivety in trying to separate his religion from politics.
