Does ritalin work for dogs?

I don't know and don't think I'd try it on any dog bigger than an ankle-biter.

I have two Aussies and they are noticeably smarter than other breeds I have known. They figure out the meaning of words without being deliberately taught, and they don’t have to hear the word very often to learn it either. They learn to spell, too. What amazed me the most however, was the male’s ability to understand and execute a command that he had never been taught; he approached me while I was reading and stared at me with his “I want to go out” look. I looked back at him and said, “Go tell Junior that you want out”. He cocked his head as he thought about that and then trotted from the room. Seconds later, he entered my son’s room and went “woof!”. Since that time, he has acted on “Go tell Mom” or “Go tell Junior”. I used to laugh at the TV every time that Timmy begged Lassie to go get help, but I won’t any more.

Awww, that’s a cute story and I know just what you mean. The only thing my Aussie does wrong is heard cows and horses from the front instead of the rear. He’s confused but still bright. Merry Christmas!

The last dog I owned was about 12 years ago. Great dog but I had to put it down because of kidney failure. I miss that dog terribly. I didn`t want another dog for all that time. Just didn`t want to go through all of that again.

Since I got married and now have a son, it kind of brought me around to the thought again. So last Christmas my wife and I decided to get a couple of dogs. It is nice having a pet(s) again I must say.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

How is this border collie doing now?

I own a border collie (or the border collie owns me) and we go for lots of walks.

Border collies like to walk. Especially in woods.

They also like to herd.

It’s the time of year where I will be re-reading some of Jack London’s Klondike stories again. I have the same border collie by my side. Now 9 year old and smarter than ever.
