Like the dawn of a new year, the 10 cars in this list are full of promise and potential. From high-powered exotics to nimble family sedans and sporty hatchbacks, the class of 2011 has something for everyone. These cars are cooler than a red-nosed Times Square reveler at 12:01 a.m. on January 1st. Theyre also the cars were most excited to drive in 2011...

Interesting little list. The usual suspects from Ferrari and Mercedes-Benz made the list, of course. But there's also a few cars on the list for a mere mortal (economically speaking) like me, too. Really liking what I'm seeing with the new VW Golf (yes, I'm one of those weirdos who LIKES driving a hatchback!).

I don’t anticipate ever buying a new car again - the last one was back in ‘90. Maybe a Mustang or Camaro in a few years provided that I’m not feeling too old by then.

Here's the new 2012 Obamamobile....I don't think it runs on anything...but it's got a lot of "hope and change" in the tank!!

The Focus ST might be for you, that is, if you like driving a car that looks like a catfish.

I'm not buying a GM or Chrysler ever, not after the bailout. I'm not making any major purchases that I can avoid until the socialist is out of our White House. I'm on strike as a consumer until they restore the rule of law, which isn't going to happen with a lying druggie like Obama in office.

Thoughts on a used vehicle, say a jeep?

It’s got some nice horsepower coming under that hood though! Saw it at the LA Auto Show. Hated that colour though!

That, and I also don’t buy cars anymore. SUVs, or a big truck.

I won’t buy any used GM/Chrysler built after the bailout, because that would support their resale price, and I want nothing to do with those companies. I’m undecided on used GM from pre-bailout.

I like the 300-hp six and the Camaro had that a year earlier than the Mustang so it depends what’s out there.

similar thinking here. Just bought a pre-bail out used Jeep Liberty for my daughter last weekend. Good cars.

Buick Regal GS. An Opel that brags about a too-slow-for-a-sports-sedan 0-60 in 7 seconds. Road&Track is no longer a serious publication.

I prefer the 550hp Shelby GT500 myself.
