Freaking hilarious.

My BS meter is pegged though.

First, I doubt he killed this shark. The friend only says that he said the water wasn’t soft. It should be something more like “Holy sh-t I jumped on a freaking shark!”

Second, this sure looks like a nurse shark. Check out the size of the pectoral fins in front, and how far back the the dorsal fin is. Also the dorsal fin is above the pelvic fins. It would be easier if we could see all the way to the tail, or if we could see the head better.

Regardless, if this is a nurse shark there are two problems. One, they aren’t really top water fish. Two, from everything I’ve heard their attacks on humans are generally caused by humans messing with them (because of the perception that they are docile).

The picture is showing the belly of the shark, not the dorsal area.

I thought that too at first, but your looking at the belly only. The picture is of a 3 foot dogfish. It is the only kind of shark that lacks anal fins.

This story seems to have been picked up by a lot of sites, and most of them are treating it as genuine, but one claimed it has been shown to be a hoax.

A shame, if it is a hoax. The "hero" is supposedly in a hospital, so conveniently unavailable for an interview.
