This could be useful in treating patients suffering from PTSD - such as soldiers who have been serving in conflict areas. Why not just remove their amygdalas?

If removing the amygdala helps with PTSD, there would be the complication of losing the "good" fear that helps humans stay out of truly dangerous situations.
