British media and our msm all the same. Hateful, destructive and vicious. to say nothing of the probably trash talking fed to the media by the royals.

“Not-so-blunt words that stopped coronation”
I am reminded of Diocletian, who broke up the Empire, appointed successors and retired. When the inevitable conflict, nepotism, corruption etc happened and an old friend wrote to him asking him to again take up the sword for the good of the Empire he wrote back to him that...
“if you could see the size and quality of the fruit I grow in my gardens with my own hand, you would speak to me no more of Empires.”
They thought he was nutzo! But who had the last laugh? She was probably a juicy little peach. ;)
To myself for tomorrow.
I love this stuff.
I have long believed that PM Baldwin’s real problem with Edward VIII was not Mrs. Simpson’s divorces, but rather his sympathies for the Hitler regime. Baldwin foresaw that there was a terrible crisis looming with this spoiled young man who refused to accept his role as constitutional monarch.
The guy musta had 2 glass eyes.
Note that “Edward’s legal adviser Sir Walter Monckton” was later named the first Lord Monckton by Churchill. He is the grandfather of our current climate change hero Lord Monckton.
Count me in with them because those two were strange ducks and she was creepy ugly.
That's true love, baby. It's only people who haven't experienced it who rail about how "insane" it is.

Note to the forum:
If you visit San Diego CA, go to the Hotel Del Coronado.
Not only will you be blown away by the wooden structure in the dining hall...
you can see a small cabin on the grounds that was noted for being
the private residence for Edward and Mrs. Simpson when they visited San Diego.
Also, you can walk the halls of the main motel and see photos from
the filming of “Some Like It Hot”.
The place is such an unbelievably huge wooden structure, I’m still
suprised that it hasn’t been destroyed by fire or termites.
She was reputedly a dominatrix of sorts with some, um, “interesting” talents. He was weak and in some ways a bit of a (small s) socialist in his beliefs, apparently didn’t follow the “proper” line about strikers etc in the Depression, later he became a fan of Adolf.

IIRC, there was a recent scientific study that concluded that
“being in love” gives a high that’s nearly indistigusible from
the physiological effects of high-powered drugs like cocaine or heroin.
I’ve experienced the emotion. Even though I’m now a grumpy old man,
I’d agree with the conclusion!!!

(I’m sure I’ll bungle this old saying)
“The rocks in his head fitted the holes in her head.”
Sounds like they were made for each other.
I’ve heard the stories. I’m simply content to know that if he loved her enough to shake up the Crown, and throw away his birthright, then he truly loved her, for good or ill. And that’s not to be sneezed at.
I’m sure she couldn’t hold a candle to CAMILLA!
snort!snort!
Poor man was impotent and a fairy. She was one step up from a whore. They did England (and the world) a favor when he abdicated.
See my previous post. Wasnt about peaches.
Agreed.
The Hotel del also a couple of rooms that are haunted..And during the holidays it is worth a drive just to see the beautiful tree and decorations in the lobby...and the dining room you described has special buffets during the season..
