Officials looking into NASA's sanitisation and disposal processes said they discovered that 10 machines containing potentially classified information had been sold on, while another four were only properly processed once an emergency investigation caught them leaving the facility.
-snip-
The report said that although it was impossible to know what was on the ten computers released from the site, an inspection of the four PCs that were caught at the last minute showed at one contained material that would be subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

Keystone Cops everywhere!
obamaworld.....what security?
It’s not like they will jeopardize the fleet of Space Shuttles. Obama’s pulled the plug.
clinton already did that........
Who would want to buy old 286s......
NASA was good when the Germans ran it. It sucks now. Muslim outreach, constant lies about water on the moon or mars, NASA global warming BS, redoing LOX tank on the shuttle with defective materials that helped kill astronauts. NASA sucks. Shut it down. Thank idiots like Bill Nelson, Obama and other scum.
When the old German guys retired it became a joke.
I’m sure the gubmint will do better with medical records.
Stop criticizing NASA. They need their jobs too. It’s Christmas ya know!! How are they going to afford their
mortgage payments and vacations if they don’t have their government paycheck???
Wink.
NASA sold off 10 machines containing classified information.
But that’s okay. It’s Julian Assange that’s not okay.
Assholes.
“clinton already did that........”
You are correct. I was just researching that again yesterday.
And who did obama put in charge of NASA? Was this intentional?
“No Clinton gave them the good stuff used on our expendable boosters.”
Thank you.
That's not saying much. You can run afoul of ITAR with the most mundane software-- a version of Internet Explorer with too-strong encryption, for example.
True. And the network stickers shouldn't matter either, unless NASA's network is already hackable. Now, a Lady Gaga folder in My Music might be cause for concern.
About 10 years ago I was doing tech support at a large University.
Computers were used for three years and then surplused. The way they were prepared was to remove the HD and run a handheld bulk tape eraser all over it and then stick it back the computer and ship it out to the surplus dealer.
The department manager did not believe me when I told him this was alsolutely useless. I took one of the computers he had just done, plugged it in and turned it on.
He turned white when the computer booted up fine and all the data was still there.
Apparently no one had thought to check and see it this really worked.
I got them set up with a 10X overwrite program. Took a little longer, but this one actually worked.
