My husband smoked for many years, since his teens. When he was in his early thirties, and our son was three months old (first child), he got really sick and didn’t smoke for three days.

He never took it up again.

A friend of mine is an avid Redskins fan. One year they were in the Super Bowl and he had tickets. On the day of the game instead of being there he was in bed with bronchitis - his 30 a day had caught up with him.

He never smoked another cigarette after that and - according to him - never a day passes that he does not want one.
