The cops don't like it

In my area, the cops and the prosecutors office proposed and pushed for it. They are the direct beneficiaries as the income generated does not go into the general fund but is distributed directly to the prosecutors office and the police department with almost no accountability.

Revenue tickets. Nothing but. Corrupt cities shake down legal citizens for money.

It’s also safer to go after Joe Citizen on non-violent offenses than to go after armed thugs.

And Joe Citizen isn’t looking at jail time, only fines and court ordered “re-education” training (for pay).

Some thug who needs a city funded court appointed attorney and is looking at lockup time (which again costs the city money) isn’t as high a priority.

Agreed. Safer and more profitable.

So, the police have become fat-a$$ed civil servants like the rest of the government employees. Great.

How long will it take the military to devolve?

A lesson not learned from the drug warriors.

A lesson predating the drug war by decades.

Look into game wardens. The Federal Government has been in the piracy business a long time.
