License plate = "W0BL1"
Poster = "WOBBLY BOB"
Coincidence? I THINK NOT.
Not that it's important, more from an informational angle that people seem to enjoy.
German plates have their city or county of registration at the start of their plates.
This WOB plate is from Wolfsburg, where VW's are built.
The three letters mean it's a small city. One letter, e.g M for Munich or F for Frankfurt, is a big city, two letters, e.g. KS for Kassel, is a medium city. Wolfsburg is a small city, thus the three letters.
For former military who were stationed in Germany back in the day. Since the EU was formed the country stickers on the back of the car are gone. It's been replaced by a letter in the blue patch on the left of the under an EU flag. This plate has D for Deutschland, the German word for Germany.
Also, almost all countries have this same color plate now. Netherlands and Luxembourg still have the yellow plate, I think, but almost all others are white.
I miss the stickers and different color plates. It's a lot harder to pick out where the cars and trucks are from on the autobahn now.
I don't live near a US base, so I don't know what plate they use now.
I remember going from a green plate to the blocky white plate with the tag number inside the windshield after the Ramstein bombing.
