Thanks for that Bing Crosby link. It brings back family connections to Bing and Bob (Bing’s brother) Crosby.
Bob was a high school classmate to my mom and her sisters. Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, has a library named the Bing Crosby Library.
Bing also had a summer residence in nearby Hayden Lake, Idaho.
Bing was born in Tacoma, WA, but the Crosby family move to Spokane, WA, where Bing and Bob attended school.
Way back in the sixties when I was in high school, I was a member of stage crew. It was common practice to paint names of the class stage crew guys on the walls in the backstage areas of the auditorium. Bob Crosby’s name was one listed from back in the ‘20’s. The original high school was demolished and replaced with a new building in the late 20th century. However, I have memories locked in my aging memory of seeing Bob Crosby’s name listed on the wall in the upper stage area of the auditorium. My brother and I also had our names painted in that area from the sixties era.
I’m old enough to remember a daily television show back in the 50’s or 60’s that was telecast mid-day in Spokane. It was the Bob Crosby and the Bobcats performing every day.
This completes reflections of an old guy who loves listening to both Bob and Big Crosby.
Merry Christmas!
Then I am doubly glad I chose that version from You Tube. It brings back memories of watching both great men on TV. We don’t have men or women of their quality to watch any more.
But I also gained a history lesson, I did not know they were brothers, they look so totally different.
