How horrible, Gail.

Several years ago, my son had frozen pipes that burst over Christmas. He was here for Christmas and found the mess after being away for a week. The insurance covered all the work needed in his kitchen, dining room and living room.

He now sets his thermostat low when he leaves, even for a few days.

Hope you can get this cleaned up soon; it is an awful time to be worrying about this.

Ceiling is the worst damage. About a 4 ft square area...and I found some water damage to the varnish on the sink cabinet’s lower shelf facing we didn’t catch...but that is ok as we had planned to refinish them..they are after all 45 yrs old and getting gummy.

This was worn out valves, just 1 went just after super, the other in the middle of the night.

We do that too, turn off hot water too, and I think hubby will in future turn off the water at the street after this.
They suggest you turn off your Washer, all sinks and toilets for these reasons when you go on vacation.

Never seen hubby move so fast to get water turned off on the hot water tank and then the next morning at the street!

I don’t sweat these things..we are DYIers so I’m use to living in construction messes. :)

Will report what the contractor says when he comes tomorrow.

Trying out my new glasses...not happy with the left lens STILL. This is the 3rd try, 2nd RX and they still can’t get the thing right.

It has not been my month.
