You won’t believe this...I got stood up TWICE today!
Then I went to my favorite Israeli Restaurant, and it was OUT OF BUSINESS!

Sometimes I feel like Rodney Dangerfield...no respect.

My husband always loved Rodney Dangerfield and so did I!!

Sorry about your restaurant closing. Sounded very interesting to me....would be nice to try since I've never eaten at an Israeli Restaurant.

When I visited my nephew in Florida, he took us to a great 'Indian' restaurant...talk about spicy and hot food, it was great, I loved it. There was a Thai Restaurant there but we went to so many places, we didn't get to go there. He said "Next time!"

So guess I've only had Chinese, Japanese and Indian food. Would like to try more! (Forgot that I have some Lebanese and Greek food.)

Israeli food is really good!

An interesting blend of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and European Cuisine.

Olives, Tabouleh, Hummous, Eggplant, Cucumber Salad, Fish, Grilled meats, soft fluffy Pita Bread, Curry and pepper sauce (Amba), lamb, chicken, Shish Kebab, rolled grape leaves, cheeses, and lots of fruit and veggies.

And of course, KOSHER!

We have a Lebanese lady in our church who is wonderful. She makes the Tabouleh salad and I loved it. Some of the folks at church didn't like it at all. She also makes a dish called Kibby....are you familiar with that? I think that's the correct spelling.

Its made kinda like a meatloaf mixture but doesn't taste anything close to meatloaf. She bakes it in maybe a 9 by 13 pan and cuts it into triangular pieces. She uses pine nuts in hers and its absolutely delicious. I'm sure there's many ways to make it and cut it but I dearly loved hers.

Leftovers are as good cold as heated. She used to always make a pan for us at Christmas.

I grew up in a Lebanese Neighborhood in Boston. I LOVE Kibbe! There is another dish I love, called “Kusa Meshi”, stuffed Zucchini Squash. It is stuffed with lamb and rice and simmered in a tomato/mint sauce. Sounds simple, but the spices are very complex.

The food was great, but we also had the bomb squad at our Jr. High School every Friday. This was in the sixties, and bomb threats were as frequent as fire drills in our inner city public school. There was a civil war in Lebanon at the time, and we got to share a little of it right in Boston. Several churches were burned down during that period as well. Of course, the perps were never apprehended.

Ah..the old days!

I have not heard of Kusa Meshi but if its Lebanese, I bet my friend Sadie, knows it! I think the real Kibbe uses ground lamb maybe, but Sadie used ground beef, bulgar wheat, pine nuts and Lord knows what else. I'd give my arm for some Kibbe now. I spelled it Kibby....never knew the real word actually. I do know she uses a small amount of mint in her mixture and I have forgotten the other spices, etc.

Bet I would love all the dishes you've mentioned and I love trying new things. Its a small world, isn't it? Could you get me a good recipe for Kibbe? I guess I should do a search for it on the net!! Remember the Lebanese man who ran for President a couple of times (can't think of his name) his mom wrote a Lebanese cookbook and I think I have it here somewhere. Mine was a paperback...maybe the only kind published. (Ralph?? Nader's mom.)

Ask Sadie about Kusa Meshi! It is a very popular dish Also stuffed grape leaves are wonderful too.

Nearly all the dishes use lamb, as it is much more common than beef. But of course, you can use beef instead, and have it Texas-Style! LOL.

That would have been Ralph Nader. So far left, he fell off the edge! LOL!

I can’t tell you how sad i was to see my restaurant gone! When you ordered a meat dish, you could choose your own side dishes from all of the above!

Every restaurant I really LIKE closes. I am beginning to think it’s a CURSE! (grrr)

I sure will ask Sadie about Kusa Meshi! We have a wonderful restaurant here called the Mad Greek. They have all varieties of food. They have a table up front where they sell jars of things. Those special olives (calamari?) and large jars of grape leaves and other things like that....! Its one of my favorite places to eat.
