Some of my candidates for the worst song of all time:

• Does the Spearmint Lose its Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight?--Jeffries & His Rialto Orchestra, 1924. The Happiness Boys' version was even worse.

• (I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for)Ice Cream--Harry Reser's Syncopators, 1928

• The Wrong Idea--Charlie Barnet, 1939

• Barney Google--The Happiness Boys, 1923

That first one was of course later a hit for skiffle-pop guy Lonnie Donegan as Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour (joke during it: “If tin whistles are made o’ tin, what are foghorns made of?”)
