She didn't quit the governorship to "become a rock star," but I suspect you know that. She quit because she felt that the endless stream of ethics charges was paralyzing her ability to govern, not to mention costing her hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend against. I happen to believe that she is the genuine article who is willing to put her state above herself. Plus, when she resigned and handed the reigns over to the Lt Gov, she knew that things would again move forward in Alaska. Couple that with the fact that, when she did resign, she did not just go home and crawl in a hole - she went out and helped get a whole bunch of conservatives elected. She worked tirelessly campaigning for conservatives all over the country. She wasn't doing that to be "a rock star," she was doing in to get conservatives elected and she had a pretty good record if you ask me.

The books she is writing and the show on Alaska is her way of letting the American people get to know who she is without the negative filter of the media. She is taking her message to teh People, like Reagan often did.

No, friend, she didn't quit to become a rock star (unless rock stars like subjecting themselves to untold smearing in the press), she resigned her position in order to take the fight in a different direction, and thank God she did! I happen to see in Sarah Palin someone who truly loves her country and is concerned about the direction both the country and even the Republican party has taken.

You are right that she loves her country and wants to take it in a different direction and sees that the GOP needs a re-start. I’m with her on all that. I love her as a king-maker.

But I’m sorry I think she loves the spotlight a great deal. And yes, the downside of doing what she did is that she is now a rock star, not a serious presidential candidate and going straight to the people as Pres was Reagan genius, doing it as candidate is weak IMO.

Unfortunately, she may well be the best option. I’m just not impressed.
