I’ve had a tremendous aversion to green beans since a child. I remember picking them out of my vegetable beef soup and placing them to the side. The one year I took school lunch I remember the bowls on the table filled with those foul-smelling comestibles. Slimy, horrible little things they are. A green bean casserole is a dish from hell.
I feel exactly the same way about cooked celery. If a recipe absolutely demands it, I put a whole stalk in and then fish it out before I serve the dish.
