Someone remind me. How long was Obama a senator before he quit to run for President?

You're exactly right. But as a sitting Senator, the MSM will never say Obama quit to run, although for all intent purposes he did. Rarely showed up or voted.

If I were Sarah Palin I'd say, look, I was the Governor of a small state population wise that is located a great distance from the lower 49. In order to work for the betterment of the country and the conservative cause at this crossroads in our history, I chose to resign and leave the Governorship in the hands of my very capable Lt. Gov.,so that I could concentrate on helping the country move forward and to help the Republican party get back to it's conservative roots. In order to do this I would be away from Alaska for long periods of time and have to work very hard to raise money, as I was not born into wealth like so many candidates are today. In my travels across this great land as a VP candidate, I realized that I had to take on a larger role in our fight for our conservatives values and way of life. Even though I knew I would take a hit personally, resigning was the right thing to do for Alaska, as well as the country.

Or something like that.

I wouldn't even mention trumped up ethics charges or other negatives, because that is all the msm folk would write their stories about concerning her statement.
