How Does Palin Overcome These Issues To Win Presidency?
Vanity ^ | 11/24/2010 | Patrick1

Sarah Palin seems to be the favorite of the majority of Free Republic members. I still have not made up my mind about her. But if she is the consevative movement's choice to take on the disaster of Obama who has gone from The Messiah to the Mess then there are things that she will need to overcome to get 50% plus one of the American people's vote in 2012. I've listed the ones I hope her supporters can address here because failure to take these issues on will result in certain defeat.

No, but I have heard it said that many times state programs are “experiments” for federal policy, doesn’t mean I like it or agree. We have an utter failure of state run care and it needs to be pointed out.

I’m not supporting Romney. Just playing devils advocate. I see it is the policy of Freerepublic to not support Romney even if he is the nominee, personally if he is the nominee I just don’t know if I can support Obama, which is what not supporting the Republican will be.

“4) She forward funded AK education by $1billion, making sure education was properly funded””

you and I know that doesn’t mean anything.
I decided to check out the Fordham Institute, a conservative think tank for educational reform. Alaska’s educational standards were rated F in English in 2010 from a D in 2005 (D’s for both years in math).

Gov Palin also rejected the Common Core standards which would’ve corrected this problem.

Now, if Gov Perry were to run, he wouldn’t bring up that issue because Texas isn’t any better. But other governors with A ratings may decide to run

Your turn. List 5 reasons an independent would be interested in re-electing Obama.

Game. Set. Match.

Romney is a very slick and savvy debater. But even Teddy could see through him. He’s not pro-life or pro-choice. He’s multiple-choice.

Romney is a politician. Like most, he has no principles higher than his own personal success. He wanted to be governor in his home state of Massachusetts and in order to do so he had to appear to be what the liberals there wanted. ALL politicians do it just not to the degree Romney did in order to win in Mass.

What are the top ten (I'll settle for five) reasons that an independent voter will be attracted to the candidacy of Sarah Palin?

1-Reducing the deficit.
2-Shrinking the massive government expansion of Obama.
3-Repeal Obama-care.
4-Lower taxes.
5-Stop the madness of strip-searching 3 year olds at airports.

Finally someone with an idea. (5 of them actually) Thank you!

Any more?

And they gave California A's. How many of the hispanics in California even speak English? Do you think California's educational system is something all of the other states should emulate?

“He already made all of his pie-in-the-sky promises the last time. What’s he going to do in ‘12? “

He’ll still promise and many people will still buy it. They don’t need gravitas or speaking abilities. They’ll vote for dems no matter what because the bottom line is getting the free money, whether that means stimulus or free health insurance or whatever.
But if independents don’t like what they see from the Republicans, they’ll either stay home or vote for a 3rd party. We saw that in 2006 and the presidential elections in the 90’s.

She resigned, and came after her attackers, and beat the pants off of them.

As I say, the list of fighters among our politicals is pretty short. You have Palin, DeMint, and Bachmann, and maybe a couple of others who made it their purpose in life to go after Obama and try to stop his runaway train. And then you have the “electables”, the ones who think its their turn to be president. They mostly sat quietly the last couple of years, carefully husbanding their political viability waiting for election season to roll around.

You should notice something. The fighters spend all their ammo on Obama. The “electables” spend their ammo going after Palin. If one of them is your candidate, good for you. I’m sure he’d make a fine president. You just have to ask yourself why such a prodigy has sat so quietly when the fate of the republic hung in the balance. Leaders don’t wait for the phone to ring offering them the job, leaders lead. Fighters fight. Wannabes wait for the coronation and gripe about folks like Palin, DeMint, and Bachmann and worry that the Tea Party is going to drive away the “moderates”.

An excellent post worth repeating!

Patrick1, you should grapple with post 35 and 156. They are good answers to your questions. My two cents: I’m not sure if you are serious or are just trying to lay out a case against Palin, but in either case, you need to step away from the main stream media to learn a little more about politics. The network news programs, CNN, etc., are mainly propaganda and regurgitated talking points from the Democratic party and their loose affiliation of leftwing non-profits and groups.

In the Republican Party those you call the wannabes, the ones who expect it is their turn, tend to win the nomination. Reagan just did beat out the RINOs by putting GBI on the ticket then we got saddled with Bush I anyway and he gave us the Clintons. Then there was Gerald Ford, and Bobdole and John McCain. McCain and Dole were totally weird as politicians. With each of them, I wondered who he wanted to win.

I expect Mitt Romney will get the nomination this time unless a conservative candidate can overcome the pretty nearly overwhelming inertia of the Republican Party. The conservative contender has to have a presence like Reagan and RR's savvy for close quarters fighting and using the media. Christy and Palin are the only ones that seem to have that so far.

I stopped reading right there. Is it “normal” for a “conservative” to care what the MSM thinks? I sure don’t.

It's not whether you or I can be swayed by the MSM, but the great mass of people whose only source of news is the MSM. That great mass of people unwittingly adopt the MSM propaganda without much thought. It has been speculated that having the MSM in your corner can mean a very substantial increase in your vote count.

Don't project your ideas or your reactions on the entire population. Merely dismissing the MSM can be a prescription for defeat. Confront the reality if really want to be successful.

Of course the standards are just the beginning of the process. But Palin won’t be running against the governor of CA so I don’t think we’ll see that debate.

Doesn't mean anything until they come out of their fortifications and force us into submission on OUR ground.

You must not have seen the discussions this week about instituting Enhanced Security Procedures prior to and train, bus or boat transportation and the beginnings of the actual implimentation of same at government buildings.

Hows it gonna be when you've gotta allow naked pictures to be taken of your 3 year old boy or 14 year old daughter who are with you in order to go to the Post Office or get on the bus all in the name of anti-terror?

If dictatorship were ever to come to the US this is exactly how it will start ... as a security measure against terror threat. The sheeple are compliant. Very compliant. The only vocal opposition are a few conservatives who can be 'eliminated' very easily.

They will? You sure have alot of confidence in Obama. Why did his party do so poorly in the mid-terms?

But if independents don’t like what they see from the Republicans, they’ll either stay home or vote for a 3rd party.

Obama will be the incumbent in '12, not Republicans. Explain to me why independents would favor Obama over Palin in '12.

It also means more TSA workers. More govt workers is good if you have a vested interest in the expansion of govt bureaucracy. We need to talk about the privatization of the TSA because bureaucrats simply can’t do profiling and use common sense. They can only think by the book.

This doesn’t answer my question. The web-site you used to critic Alaska gave California two A’s for English. How many of the hispanic Californians speak English? Do you think that California’s educational system should be emulated by the rest of the nation?
