How Does Palin Overcome These Issues To Win Presidency?
Vanity ^ | 11/24/2010 | Patrick1

Sarah Palin seems to be the favorite of the majority of Free Republic members. I still have not made up my mind about her. But if she is the consevative movement's choice to take on the disaster of Obama who has gone from The Messiah to the Mess then there are things that she will need to overcome to get 50% plus one of the American people's vote in 2012. I've listed the ones I hope her supporters can address here because failure to take these issues on will result in certain defeat.

Just in case you missed the numerous posts on the subject, nineteen ethics complaints were filed right around the time she was chosen as McCain’s running mate (interesting timing, that). The pile-on cost both her family and the State of Alaska lots of time and money (http://www.adn.com/2009/06/21/838912/ethics-complaints-filed-against.html), more than she thought was fair to her loved ones and to the Alaskan taxpayers, particularly since the vast majority were dismissed. Oh, and several of the complaints were from one Republican activist alone.

Unlike presidents, governors don’t get much protection from lawsuits, and so she decided she could leave Alaska in her similarly-minded lieutenant governor’s unencumbered hands, and spare Alaskans further melodrama and interruption of the governance that needed attention.

1) Reduce property taxes by 75%. In exchange asked the voters whether they wanted a sale taxes for the sport complex.

I see nothing wrong with this

3) She raised taxes on energy companies from 1% to I think 3% royalty after having to renegotiate the term of the contract because the initial contract were struck by corrupt officials, some of which ended up in jail or fined. She also reduced state subsidies to these energy companies, forcing these companies to raise their own capitals.

She doesn’t believe in man made global warming at all, but regardless of the reason, she support all the above strategy for solving the energy problem in the US. This was in the Gibson interview

4) She forward funded AK education by $1billion, making sure education was properly funded

These are the only ones I know the answer to

40% is conservative. she needs 10%+1

As of November 1, 2010 according to a Rassmusen Poll
36.3% Democrat 33.4% Republican http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/partisan_trends

You may argue that some of those Dems are really conservative but I'll argue that even more Republicans are RINOs at heart.

So I'll stick with a conservative base of 30% and needing 21% of the independents.

“Why? It’s as much as Obama had to work with. “

All Obama has to do is promise free money to people. All he has to do is be nice to the entire world, say that everyone is basically the same and to look at shades of gray instead of absolutes.
Conservatives have to be able to make and justify tough decisions. They have to say, “No. This is wrong and this is right.” If we can’t make that case effectively, the easy-choices guy will win every time.

The only thing I can think of where she lack Conservative credential was her support for TARP. That could be a killer. She better have a good excuse for it or have learned from it

You are conflating what Obama has done with how he got there to do it. Independents didn’t know jack about him, and he still won.

That would be 12 AP fact checkers, and Obama will never face that amount of scrutiny.

I couldn't remember exactly who was doing the fact checking. Thank you for clarifying.

When has the GOP ever nominated two McCain-like (read: “old”) candidates in a row? You need to have a little more faith in the process.

____________________________________________________________

Plenty of RINO’s in a row. Only broken in modern times by Goldwater and Reagan. After Reagan it was Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain. An unbroken string of big government Republicans helping to lead us down the path to national economic depression and ultimately collapse. Guess the end date for our great economy . . .

and George Bush’s excuse for TARP, that was mostly paid back and he only support half of it during his term is not a good enough excuse imho. Should never have bailed out the banks in the first place

All Obama has to do is promise free money to people.

He already made all of his pie-in-the-sky promises the last time. What's he going to do in '12?

There's not much left to work with when you b!tch about being refered a person's own written answers to the questions you're asking...

I'm so sorry my FRiend. I don't know if it's the way you post or the way I read or think but while I have the feeling we probably agree on much more than we disagree, I just have a difficult time understanding exactly what it is you're trying to communicate.

In the words of the immortal Red Skelton,"Good night and may God bless."

Romney is going to hop right into that with the Democrats-voting-in-Republican-primaries in his pocket.
