I really agree with your analysis of recoil. The .45 ACP was the first pistol I shot that I felt had acceptable recoil. And it is just a push rather than a jump.
I asked my son about recoil after I was shooting my S&W .40 at the range and then fired his short barrel Glock .45, which I did much better with. He went to the internet and showed me the graphs. May have to trade.
