Anti-Government Movement Discovered in Middle Tennessee

They call themselves sovereign citizens, and they're part of a growing anti-government movement that rejects state and federal law.

The Southern Poverty Law Center tracks extremist groups and estimates there are 300,000 sovereigns nationwide, but a NewsChannel 5 investigation reveals the movement is thriving here in middle Tennessee.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is warning police departments across the country about the growing movement. It has produced a video which shows officers how to identify sovereigns.

In May, two men who belonged to the movement, shot and killed two West Memphis police officers after the officers pulled them over for a traffic violation.

"There are people at war with this country who are not international terrorists," said West Memphis Police Chief Robert Paudert.

The chief's son was one of the officers killed by sovereigns that day.

"My men didn't realize who or what they were dealing with," said Paudert.

The officers pulled over Jerry Kane and his 16-year-old son. They were traveling across the country giving seminars about how to circumvent the legal system.

In a seminar captured on the Internet, Kane delivered this ominous message, "I don't want to have to kill anybody, but if they keep messing with me that's what is going to have to come out. That's what it will come down to," Kane said.

As officers questioned Kane, his son pulled out a rifle and opened fire.

Here we go with Morris Dees’ bunch again. They will use this incident to paint as many ‘bitter clingers’ as extremists and a threat as they can.

Rejecting a rouge federal government that denies the constitution that formed our country is one thing. The powers not delegated to the federal government remains in the states and individuals (10th Amendment).

We need the states. And we need a constitutional republic that the states can accept. The states are where the people can exercise governmental control. Rebelling against the states goes off the deep end I think.

AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH:

Most of these folks are LaRouche DEMOCRATS....

Did you see the word “Democrat” mentioned anywhere in this article? You are left with the impression, of course, that these are REPUBLICAN whackos.

I look at it this way:

What would happen to black if he got lost in an anti-government stronghold, in the Tennessee woods? He’d probably be given a drink, a meal if he was hungry, and a lift (or directions) so that he could be on his way.

Same question now if a white got lost in a pro-government stronghold, such as Detroit...well, you can take it from there.

Bottom line, left-wing militias are much more dangerous and deadly than right-wing militias.

>The states are where the people can exercise governmental control. Rebelling against the states goes off the deep end I think.

Really?
I live in New Mexico, the State Constitution says:
Art II, Sec. 6. [Right to bear arms.]
No law shall abridge the right of the citizen
to keep and bear arms for security and
defense, for lawful hunting and recreational
use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing
herein shall be held to permit the carrying
of concealed weapons. No municipality
or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident
of the right to keep and bear arms.

However, there is the State Statute of:
30-7-2.4. Unlawful carrying of a firearm on university premises; notice; penalty.
A. Unlawful carrying of a firearm on university premises consists of carrying a firearm on university premises except by:
—(1) a peace officer;
—(2) university security personnel;
—(3) a student, instructor or other university-authorized personnel who are engaged in army, navy, marine corps or air force reserve officer training corps programs or a state-authorized hunter safety training program;
—(4) a person conducting or participating in a university-approved program, class or other activity involving the carrying of a firearm; or
—(5) a person older than nineteen years of age on university premises in a private automobile or other private means of conveyance, for lawful protection of the person’s or another’s person or property.

B. A university shall conspicuously post notices on university premises that state that it is unlawful to carry a firearm on university premises.

C. As used in this section:
—(1) “university” means a baccalaureate degree-granting post-secondary educational institution, a community college, a branch community college, a technical-vocational institute and an area vocational school; and
—(2) “university premises” means:
——(a) the buildings and grounds of a university, including playing fields and parking areas of a university, in or on which university or university-related activities are conducted; or
——(b) any other public buildings or grounds, including playing fields and parking areas that are not university property, in or on which university-related and sanctioned activities are performed.

D. Whoever commits unlawful carrying of a firearm on university premises is guilty of a petty misdemeanor.

There are other things like this; but it is current prevalent in ALL levels of American governance.

That's messed up. But the people have the ability to generate initiatives and propositions to overturn unpopular laws or create ones the legislature won't.

There's always another states. But if we can't get control at the state level, then the problem is at the individual level with little remedy, except a spiritual awakening.

Morris Dees and his organization exists to raise money from leftists by circulating horror stories of Southern white people.

Last I checked, West Memphis was in Arkansas. The article does mention a couple of nuts who live in Tennessee but were not involved in the shooting in West Memphis. They seem to be the white counterparts of the black people who believe they can claim reparations money from the federal government.

The Southern Poverty Law Center

“..the confederates are coming, the racists are coming, the nazis are here, violent murders..”

These guys do not know a geniune threat when they see one, and painting most of a certain group (on the right) as holding such violent tendancies is the first fallacy of the communist-left.

Just like they did the Tea Party. That didn’t work to well for them.

They should be afraid! Lawlessness begets lawlessness.

And I DO NOT WANT TO BE LECTURED WITH OFT USED: “YOU KNOW, WE’RE PLAYING RIGHT INTO THEIR HANDS!”
