played and recorded with them at Levon’s house/studio in Woodstock a few years ago
At Big Pink, or another place? What an experience that must’ve been.

I saw them with Dylan twice too

On the “Before the Flood” tour? I think that was Dylan’s first big tour since his motorcycle accident in ‘66. Quite a long break from stage. He sure came back with a vengeance.

$25 for Thanksgiving dinner at Winterland and then seeing The Band and friends? Best deal ever.

Most I ever paid was $150 per ticket for front row seats to see “The Arms Concert” in ‘83 at the L.A. Forum — Clapton, Beck, Page, Cocker. Amazing show

Before the Flood, yes. MSG and Cap Centre in Md. The last night of the Rock of Ages week, I had a ticket but gave it away. After the third encore that night they came back on stage with Dylan—how could I have done that? Geesh.

The house isn’t Big Pink but nearby. Levon and Garth never left Woodstock. Levon turned half of his place into a recording studio—after his wife left him. I know that I know the back story on Big Pink but don’t rememebr it—I’ll ask my son on Thanksgiving and get back to you. I think it’s pretty good.

I vaguely remember that Beck, Page and Clapton were playing together in concert back then. I was always sorry I never saw Clapton live. I guess there’s still a chance. But even if I do, I won’t have anything on my wife. She actually saw the Beatles live when she was a teenager.

Yeah it was a benefit concert for Ronnie Lane, who had multiple sclerosis. I think they only played in a few locations -- L.A. N.Y., S.F, and maybe one or two other cities. They each did a separate set, and then got together for a few encores -- "Layla" (where the 3 of them traded guitar solos) and "With a Little Help from my Friends" (sung by Joe Cocker) being the most memorable.

Rock of Ages...After the third encore that night they came back on stage with Dylan

The (fairly new) Rock of Ages CD has the Dylan cuts as bonus tracks, as well as a few songs by The Band that weren't on the original release. Highly recommended if you haven't heard it.

Did she actually hear the music over all those screaming teens? ;)
