Two years ago my wife got a small doe with her week old mustang here in S TX. $3500 worth.

Of course you read the comment I posted, so it’s disingenuous of you and demonstrates a lack of honor on your part to pretend you didn’t. And you also realize it was a civilized response.

"I'd like to learn to butcher my own, too, but I don't have nearly the garage or freezer to do it."

Up until last year, I would occasionally process my own deer and hogs, just for the satisfaction of doing so, and I'd borrow the grinder and slicer from a friend of mine.

Last year I took a deer to the local guy that, after skinning, weighed 210 pounds. I got 55 pounds of meat back and it wasn't the cuts that I had instructed be done. Clearly it wasn't my deer or my order. Somebody got a few boxes of really nice venison.

I bit my lip and bought the grinder/sausage stuffer, slicer, and smoker, and began processing all of our game. We already had an area in one of our sheds set up to hang and age the meat before taking it to be processed.

I'm having a blast so far, but it is a lot of work and I'm not as fast doing the butchering as someone who has been doing it for a living.

Bzzzzzzt! Sorry, Chuckles...no prize for you. Your post, #62, had been deleted by the time I got done writing a post to another FReeper. This, and the smell of ozone, is all that was left after the "delete bomb" was dropped on you:

However, thanks to our FRiend Hot Tabasco, I was able to derive a little of what you had said. Let me turn your attention to post #70:

You
"By the same token, who are you to pass judgment on Keith Olbermann or Michael Steele? Do you know them or their family"

Hot Tabasco
"What the F does Olbermann or Steele have to do with deer hunting? If you have to resort to off topic tactics then maybe it's time you leave this thread............"

So, my honor, integrity, credibility and conscience are all unblemished, sorry to tell you. You, on the other hand, are still dodging my question: what exactly did you say in post #62? Hmmmmmmmm?

By the way, do they play dodgeball in Moldova? I bet you'd be really good at it, given your demonstrated talent at dodging questions.

Really, you're making this too easy. I do like a little challenge, you know.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

No meat is ever wasted by those who play by the rules...

If one is not willing to slay and harvest flesh, one does not deserve to eat it... I hold this truth near to my heart or the mashed potatoes, whichever is closest...

God Bless, and go kill something, it is delicious...

So if I take three bucks in a 3 month season...would that be okay with you?

You sully the name you have chosen...

And you have no clue...about "Sportsmanship".

Hey!

+1 on ‘back porch’ processing! Nevermore on the deer grinder!

I will never look back!

Its not easy, but its fun... and tasty!

Happy hunting, my FRiend. I’ve got an absolutely brute of a ten point on one of my trail cams and it is on a part of my property that I have restricted to bow only. Hopefully I’ll get to post a photo of me with my hands on his antlers. I love this sport!

If you have the $$...why is it silly?

Butcher near me is offering to make summer sausage..and some other sausage...plus the rest deer burger...for $110 a deer.

I figure that's a decent deal...if you take a 180 lb deer in.....

I have no problem with someone that goes to harvest a dear each year, but this is excessive greed.

And your Code Pink or PETA side got in the way of your brain...on this one.

Do you have any idea what the "limits" are in most states?

Grab a clue....while you can.

$110 per deer makes sense. $500 / deer not so much.

“Do you hunt deer?”

Only 2 legged dears ;)

I did try to save a very young doe that had been shot in the hip by a poacher, but it died after a few days.
