So how will this profile work? Given that the Islamic terrorists have access to people who wouldn’t fit the profile that you want, how would you prevent them from simply employing one of these individuals as a delivery device for a bomb?

The odds are VERY high a would-be bomber would board a flight bound for the U.S., not originating here.

Really? That's how the 9/11 Terrorists did it too, right?

The 9/11 hijackers were MUSLIMS. They should have been profiled and searched because THEY WERE MUSLIMS.

And did the crotch bomber depart from the USA? Did the shoe bomber depart from USA? Did the printer toner bombs originate in USA?

The recent threats are coming from flights from AMSTERDAM, PARIS, FRANKFURT, DUBAI, ROME and LONDON.

MUSLIMS flying from FOREIGN airports are the threat right now, not white 3 year old children from Milwaukee.

I think this IS psychological warfare on the American people. It is a test to see how much of our liberty we will give up and how much government harassment we will hold still for. So far, it appears that the gubmint has carte blanche! As my coon-hunting Army buddy from Alabama used to say: Pi$$ on the fire and call in the hounds, boys! It all over!

“Duhhh...I don’t know.” (the useful idiot trying to think)

Profiling is the most basic strategy of all military and law enforcement since the beginning of history: you learn how to separate the bad guys from the good guys, not mix them together in one chaotic bundle.

Profiling is the opposite of what they’re doing now.

Current policy is to assume all innocent people are terrorists, the theory being that you can flush out terrorists from amongst the innocent by focusing on everything except terrorist behavior.

Common sense tells us this policy is stupid.

Geraldo Rivera actually making sense last night. What we need is a "reverse profiling."

Instead of profiling potential terrorists, we should profile people who clearly are NOT terrorists. Give these groups of people the "pilot pass," too.

Examples of groups profiled OUT of enhanced screening are:

"You give these people a clearance where they don't have to go through the process at all. So now you have to deal with the population that's left -- occasional flyers, people originating from foreign countries..."

So there is a profiling system that doesn't profile the terrorist, leaving us open to charges of racism; it profiles people who are NOT terrorists (a group not likely to complain about it), and leaves the rest for enhanced screening.

The 9/11 hijackers were MUSLIMS. They should have been profiled and searched because THEY WERE MUSLIMS.

How do you determine if a person is a Muslim? There are Muslims of every nationality, race and gender. If you only search people who look like Muslims to you, you miss the people who terrorists have access to who are Muslims who don't look like you think a Muslim should look.

And did the crotch bomber depart from the USA? Did the shoe bomber depart from USA? Did the printer toner bombs originate in USA?

The 9/11 hijackers DID originate in the USA, further, if you have a different tier of searches for international flights than for domestic flights, a potential terrorist would simply take an international flight to the United States, assemble their bomb, and then take a Domestic flight to carry out their deed. Terrorists look for soft targets, they plan and research before their attacks, they conduct numerous dry runs, they are not as stupid as you want to pretend that they are.

The recent threats are coming from flights from AMSTERDAM, PARIS, FRANKFURT, DUBAI, ROME and LONDON.

If you only profile those flights, how are you going to stop someone from breaking their attack into two tiers, flying from one of those places to the United States, assembling their attack here, then flying from Indianapolis or some other city here to carry out the attack?

MUSLIMS flying from FOREIGN airports are the threat right now, not white 3 year old children from Milwaukee.

Even if what you are saying is absolutely correct, what the Muslims are doing now has nothing to do with what they could do in the future. Switching up the mode of attack would be easy and if you didn't have a system in place designed to catch the attackers, you would have nothing.

The fact of the matter is flying is NOT a right. You have absolutely no right to go on an airplane. If you do not want to follow the rules for travel, there is a very simple solution, Don't fly. There are many modes of other transportation available for you.

That always kills me on text messages. I always refuse to dumb down the English language, so I find myself having to send two part text messages when I have lots to say. lol

It’s always better to communicate via instant messaging if your phone has it. No limits on the amount of characters, and you don’t have to pay for text charges.

The non-racist’s fear of being called racist is what terrorists and troublemakers use as a weapon to defeat him.

I say stop worrying about being called racist and just get the job done.

That way we won’t have to think up convoluted schemes just to be politically correct. Political correctness is an obstacle, not a solution.

Actually, profiling occurs right now, whether you know it or not. However, what some people here want is to only search people who fit their amateur notion of what a profile is, and let everyone else go through unchecked. That would be such a massive invitation to an attack that it wouldn’t even be funny.

That's how they do it on Twitter. They are limited to 140 characters, so they abbreviate everything.

Don't pay attention to KoRn. He is just a disgruntled PDS Sufferer.

LOL! Either way you are profiled, as a not-terrorist, and as a potential terrorist by not being a not-terrorist.

However, whatever way it is sold to the public, we need to profile, Profile, PROFILE!

Really?

Yes, really. The 9/11 terrorists used boxcutters and relied on an unaware public. That method won't fly anymore. So now the enemy knows its best chance at a successful terrorist attack on an airliner is to use bombs, either stored in check-in luggage or on their person. And as I mentioned, most airports overseas are far less stringent security-wise than our own, so it stands to reason that that's where they'd board their flight (bound for the U.S.).

As others have correctly noted, psychological/racial/religious profiling the world over is the best way to combat the threat. ...but we can start by doing it here.

Profiling occurs right now because profiling is convention. Fifty years ago, we profiled unhampered by political correctness and the result was a very good balance between security and liberty.

The fact that terrorism has increased in our day should be a clue to us that we need to do what has always worked. The problem is that amateurs today (not including useful idiots) have more common sense than professionals. You would know this if you ever paid attention to the ridiculous behavior of TSA officials.

But political correctness is the opiate of the masses (the useful idiot masses). They suck it down like honey, never once tasting its poison.

It’s time to push back, we are on that edge. I think if the gubmint goes much farther, there will be no stopping it. Our liberties will be gone. They are talking about putting these machines and the same rigorous searches at the DMV and other gubmint offices. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! I’m furious.

Okay. I see you are a MUSLIM APOLOGIST. Do you work for CAIR?

This is what the ignorant retreat to when they have no other answers. FYI: Ad Hominem attacks completely destroy your credibility. Frankly, Your ignorance is astounding.

Not only am I in favor of REAL profiling, this profiling occurs right now. What I am pointing out, is that your ignorant version of profiling would present a serious security risk.

Further, your rambling is completely non-responsive to the substantive points that I made. The fact is, Muslim terrorists don't all look a certain way. These terrorists have access to people to carry out an attack who do not look the way that you think they should look. Islam is a growing threat in Europe, and has managed to convert many radical young Europeans. The same has occurred right here in the United States. Hence, there is a need to develop a procedure that will catch the terrorists who don't look or act the way that you think they should.

Tell me, how would your profile catch the newly converted American or European terrorist who was willing to die carrying out a suicide bombing?

Do you seriously think that you can just march onto an El Al flight without any security screening? What you want is to be exempted from security screening because you think you are above it, and you don't fit the profile that you have developed in your head. The problem with your ignorant theory is that a terrorist might not fit the profile that you have developed either.

You don't have a right to fly. We need a comprehensive security screening procedure that includes real profiling, security screening, and other measures that are taken by such companies as El Al, not your ignorant version that would lead us vulnerable to another attack.
