CCW [Georgia] query - Legal to carry concealed into the Post Office? (Vanity)

Question: With the new laws in Georgia, is it, or is it NOT legal to carry concealed (with a permit) into the public areas (ie wait in line to mail a package) of a Federal Post office?

I know it is illegal to carry into 'behind the counter' areas of ANY Federal building unless you are a LEO.

Please cite the law or supply a link if you can.

I have looked closely at this in the past. It gets to a situation where “You might beat the rap, but you won’t beat the ride.”

I am not willing to risk my GFL and the possibility of tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

For those days I have to go to the post office, there are various tools and hammers in the front of the truck in the event I have to defend myself.

Correct. Ga law doesn’t cover Federal property. You will be violating Federal law and will be prosecuted in Federal court, not state.

It is (or was till last year, didn’t see if it was changed) also illegal to have a firearm anywhere on airport property, including the parking lot. This makes it rather dicey to take your favorite O/U with you on that next Grouse hunt out west.

The airport thing is currently state-by-state and very confusing.

Here, in MN, as long as we don’t attempt to carry past the ‘security’ area, we can wander the lot and the terminal.

I wasn’t clear, the parking lot thing at airports is, indeed, a state by state thing.

A year or two ago the police set up roadblocks on airport property and searched incoming vehicles for gunz-&-bombz. This could have lead to arrest for just picking up a passenger if you happen to have a gun in the car.
