Most dangerous toys in my opinion are: Anything that is ‘safe’ for kids. Helmets, knee pads, etc. A good bonk on the head teaches far more about the world than the ‘safety’ bubble we put our children in today. I’m starting to see helmets on kids who are just walking around with their parents at the market, and not because of having some physical or mental challenge. Just normal kids and too protective parents.

If the helmets you see are on very young children, they may be plagiocephaly helmets, a therapeutic device used to correct head flattening. Our twins had to wear them. They had plagiocephaly, or head-flattening, caused by torticollis, which is a weakness of neck muscles caused by being too crowded in the womb. We felt very lucky that the (extremely effective!) helmets were available to us, as otherwise our poor kids would have grown up “kinda funny lookin’.”

TMI? :)

I agree. It’s time to bring back dodge ball. Dodge ball is the ultimate metaphor for life. Makes a MAN outta ya! That or having your dad stand you up by the side of the garage while he whacks a pail of golf balls at ya!
