And over the fifty years of heavy aviation in the socal area (minimum) it is almost unheard of that anyone has raised so many questions about one of those contrails that the FAA and Pentagon still can't identify an aircraft in that air space over 48 hours later.

I think they were confused because some “apparently credible” people said they thought it was a missile, but there was no evidence other than the tape. They did the same investigating a lot of us here did and, after being careful they didn’t miss anything (something we are less careful to do) they finally identified it as probably flight 808.
I’m as confident about this as I am that Dan Rather’s documents were fake.
