Fair enough. Sorry.

The contrail did not continue on overhead or to the east. It simply ended at the top of the spike apparently still miles to the west.

Or the plane descended from ultra-cold 30k ft. on its approach to LAX and the contrail disappeared?

Damn, this stuff is so totally tin foil, I can't believe any Freepers are buying in.

Study some perspective drawing or get some common sense!

Next night, same conditions, same contrail, same flight.

This is almost as kooky as the woman that was spraying her lawn and saw “chemtrails” in the hose stream.

General McInierny (sp?) was just on Hannity, and he says there is "No question it's a missile launch, probably a Govt. 'Black Op' that they have their reasons for not revealing."

So while I appreciate all the naysaying dorks (really, I do...) I'll go with the 4-Star General on this one.

(not too smug, heh heh heh...)

I assume you will be able to take a picture similar to the ones we've see and post it for all to see just how common it is.

This from last September

This from 60 years ago in California

Here's one from out in the mountains.

Learn prespective -- as in the drawing kind. Photos (and video) do indeed lie.

Stuff it, jerk. You don't know diddly squat.

All well put, Doc. Still, Lt. General Thomas McInerney (Ret) just said on Hannity that it was definitely a missile. End of discussion. We all guess (except for me). General's don't guess. Generals get to be Generals by being right. I believe the Lt. General can tell the difference between a twin jet moisture contrail and a gelatinous missile efflux.

I tied to explain this to y'all, but there are none so blind as they who refuse to see.

He's not the only heavy weight who thinks so. U.S. Ambassador to NATO Robert Ellsworth, who is also a former Deputy Secretary of Defense, was also convinced beyond doubt after viewing the video.

I'm not blind, I'm just trying to examine every angle, honestly and rationally.

Frankly, it doesn't help your credibility to insult those trying to engage in honest discussion.

My gut tells me it was a missile, but the data doesn't support that gut instinct, if it was on film in flight for 9 or 10 minutes. If you can prove it was only on the video for one minute, the case is closed. But no one has proven that, even though everyone seems to be working on that assumption, including your General on Hannity.

Perspective? Learn a little humility, Ditt-zoid. As you have proven here this evening, you ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer despite your inexplicably high opinion of yourself.

Lt. General Thomas McInerney (Ret) says it's definitely a missile on Hannity, which will replay at midnight EST this evening, in case you'd like to hear it from a real expert.

Learn some prerpective, Dittz.

That car is traveling uphill and the contrail goes behind a relatively close tall mountain. Viewing angle and horizon elevation are important perspective metrics.

Oh yeah, Doc. Your ability to intellectualize it certainly trumps General McInerny's professional expertise on the topic. No doubt. Nobody would ever question your guesswork over the General's 60 years of watching missile launches and jet contrails.

You really are full of something. Probably yourself.

If one more person posts those same two stupid pics again, especially the one on the bottom, I’m going to have to conclude that critical thinking is considered evil in today’s society. No thought goes into putting those up for comparison at all.

No proof for a missile. Plenty of proof and explanation for contrails.

I swear, its like no one ever looks up at the sky anymore. Where are the reports of this missile launch from San Diego or north to Oxnard? I once watched a Delta launch from VAFB as it passed over the ocean W of us in Oceanside, quite cool, especially the staging.

And the ionized gas cloud that you get from exhaust in the ionosphere. Where is that in this “missile”? How come this “missile” moves so slow?

The kook is strong in so many, but reason and logic is scarce.

There are some things licensed pilots know to keep mum about just so they keep their licenses. Who's to say others didn't film it? You can be sure if I filmed something that the government was so goofy over as this, I'd lock it away and never speak of it.

Well the smart ones do anyway...;o)

Plenty of proof and explanation for contrails.

I haven't seen anything that constitutes proof.

I swear, its like no one ever looks up at the sky anymore.

Really? It seems to me like you have never seen a missile launch.

I spent the first 27 years of my life living within a mile of Stapleton Int. Airport. For about 40 years I spent hundreds of hours outdoors as a carpenter, hunter, fisherman and wild crafter. I have also been a fan of space launches and have seen on film almost every major launch since Friendship 7 which I clearly recall watching as a child. And then the Challenger disaster from the Cape.

Your great powers of observation might have noticed that I said that before. Your lack of skill in debate and discussion might actually be worse than your critical thinking skills.

How come this “missile” moves so slow?

It appears to move slow for a missile because it is moving away at an angle to the northwest, as the photographer said it was, and because it is already very high up by the time the video shows its movement. The angle away from the camera doesn't reveal the distance traveled due to perspective.
