Multiple media outlets are reporting that University of Colorado football coach Dan Hawkins will be fired today.
Hawkins has been on the hot seat since last year. The cries for his ouster grew louder following the biggest collapse in school history Saturday when the Buffaloes blew a 28-point lead at Kansas with less than 12 minutes left and lost 52-45.

After what Kansas did to them? I’m surprised they didn’t fire him on the field.
To: Perdogg
Maybe he can go interview in Dallas.

I’ve seen crazy comebacks before but that game was one to remember. I’ve never seen a team blow a 4 touchdown lead in less than a quarter. It’s like only colorado’s 4th string was playing.

Moving to the PAC-12 next season. Should get a new coach, perhaps someone like Mike Leach (former TExas Tech head coach) that is wacked out enough to survive in Boulder (Berkley of the Rocky Mountains) but an offensive guru.

No, I can think of a couple of other guys who are way, way, more ready for head coaching jobs than Leach. They happen to be assistants at another school right now... :)

Texas Tech vs Minnesota in the Insight Bowl (2005 I think?) - Tech was down 35 to 7 halfway through the 3rd... came back to win in OT. It was the biggest comeback in Bowl history, and admittedly a shock to the fans. I believe the Minn coach was fired pretty quickly too.
My question about Hawkins is, why did they wait for this loss? Hasn't he had 5 or 6 losing seasons?

Hawkins son was first string QB for 2 or 3 years if I recall correctly. When I saw a different QB this year I assumed Cody had graduated and I was stunned to learn his dad benched him.

On December 31 of that year, he was gone. Right now, Mason's career 64-57 record is looking mighty good compared to his predecessor's and successor's records.
